Ingredients:
Bitter Chocolate 85 g
Whipping Cream 1/4 cup
Milk
Sugar 1 ¼ tbsp.
Golden Syrup 1 tbsp.
Vanilla extract ½ tsp.
Flavours : use any one option mentioned bellow for flavouring
Nutella 1/8 cup
or Liqueur ½ tbsp (Kahlua, Tia Maria, Bailey's Irish Cream or Brandy)
Dippers : Green / Red apples, Bananas, Marshmallows, Brownies, Chocolate chip cookies, Sponge cake bites, Strawberries etc
Method:
Place chopped Bitter chocolate in a medium sized microwave safe bowl and set aside.
Combine the Cream, Milk, Sugar, and Golden Syrup in a saucepan and place over medium heat.
Bring to a boil, stirring often. Remove from heat and pour immediately over the chocolate.
Let the mix stand until the chocolate has melted and whisk until smooth.
Whisk in Vanilla extract and Nutella or the Liqueur according to your flavour preference.
Pour the mixture into a fondue pot and place the fondue burner set on low fire.
Arrange the bite size pieces of dippers on a platter or plates around the chocolate pot.
Use a fondue fork or bamboo skewer or salad fork to dip the fruit pieces and other dippers into the hot melted cream chocolate mixture and enjoy.
The fondue mixture will hold up to one hour on low fire. If the mixture gets too thick, stir in hot milk, 1 tablespoon at a time.
Reheat the sauce if it becomes too thick.
Other Variations in flavour: use any one option mentioned bellow instead of Nutella or Liqueur
A good pinch of Espresso / Instant coffee powder can do wonders!
Add a ¼ teaspoon of cinnamon and ¼ teaspoon of chili powder for a nice Mexican Chocolate fondue.
Orange zest is nice way to create a slightly fruity chocolate.
White chocolate is always a nice change, spike this with a little liquor or citrus zest and it becomes heavenly.
