Winner – Silver Award – Cake International Birmingham 2015

Bollywood Theatre (The first Intercontinental cake) Bollywood, the quintessential representation of modern India is a well-recognized facet among the multiple layers of art and culture of India. That is why Cake Canvas chose Bollywood Theatre as the theme for the Competition Entry for Class A at the Cake International – The Sugarcraft, Cake Decorating and Baking Show held at Birmingham, England from the 6th to 8th of November, 2015. The cake stands taller than it looks with the weight of two of the most celebrated stars of Bollywood as a part of the ensemble. The magic of Indian movies as they come alive in front of an enthralled child who is so lost in the experience of the movie that to him, as it is to all of us who have gone through it, the separation between the screen and real life happens instantaneously and we watch with childish abandon as the stars transcend the silver screen barrier to shine and shimmer in their resplendent Bollywood aura. The giant expo hall at National Exhibition Centre at Birmingham was choc a block with hundreds of incredibly talented art pieces in cake. The intercontinental cake was made in Kochi and flew all the way to Birmingham to participate in the event. It went through three car changes, two flights and over 7000 kilometers to gather this awesome recognition among the best of the best in my own field. This entry for Cake International – The Sugarcraft, Cake Decorating and Baking Show was awarded a silver medal. More than anything, we will cherish the pride of representing India at such a prestigious International forum. We were beaming like little kids when we placed the cake at the venue.
